We Grow in Faith as We Fix Our Eyes on Jesus, and Learn to Live by Faith

Join us as we explore the teachings of the Bible and discover practical ways to grow in faith. Our mission is to encourage one another on this spiritual journey, cultivating faithfulness, a hunger to walk with God, and a thirst to know Him through time in His Word.

About Our Faith Journey

The goal of this website is to examine faith as presented in the Bible, especially what it means to live by faith. Paul writes in Romans 1:16 and 17, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘But the righteous man shall live by faith.’” This key passage brings up the gospel and faith and their relation to one another. The gospel is an integral part of our faith, and as we grow in it, we see it impact how we live. As we learn to live by faith, we grow in our appreciation of the gospel, and by faith we say with Paul, ‘I am not ashamed of the gospel.’

In the first section on ‘Bible Teaching on Faith,’ I will begin by examining what the letter to the Hebrews teaches about living by faith, especially chapter 11. As we look at individual examples of living by faith, we will also include other key Bible passages to deepen our understanding.

Then the section on ‘Invitations as Opportunities’ is critical for our growth in understanding God’s character, and especially His faithfulness, which is my foundation for living by faith. As important as reading information to learn about someone, it is spending time with someone, asking them questions, listening to them, and interacting with them that helps me get to know someone intimately. In this section I hope to look at our spiritual disciplines a little different, as invitations from God to draw near to Him, and thus opportunities for tremendous blessings and joy in this life.

The third section, ‘Encouraging One Another,’ comes out of meditating on Romans 1:11-12, where Paul defines a person as being established when they can encourage others through their faith and be encouraged by others’ faith. This section also reminds us that our growth in faith is not an individual journey. In looking at the ‘one another’ passages, I am reminded of my need for my brothers and sisters in Christ, and of their need for me.

Finally, in the fourth section, ‘Writing to Help Faith Grow,‘ I want to explore the broader area of writing to encourage others in their faith and to help it grow. This is a broad section that will look at recommendations of fiction books with a faith theme, and non-fiction books on our Christian faith, including biographies that greatly encourage and strengthen us. I hope also to encourage us to write to one another, and beyond short texts. This has become a lost art, but one we need to bring back to a world that is isolated and has forgotten how to encourage one another.
